Abstract
The partial oxidation of ethane to ethanol and acetaldehyde in the H2/O2 fuel cell under mild conditions is reported. The reaction proceeds at the carbon gasdiffusion cathode in the presence of transition metal ions (Fe2+, Cu2+) at ambient pressure and temperature 343 K.
