Abstract
Laser flash photolysis was used to study the photochemistry of Feaq 3+ complex in aqueous solutions with additions ofN,N-dimethylformamide. An electronic absorption band with a maximum at 380 nm belonging to the*CH2(CH3)NCHO radical was recorded. The recombination (or disproportionation) rate constants of*CH2(CH3)NCHO radicals and their reaction with the Feaq 3+ complex were estimated to be (3.4±0.8)×109 M−1s−1 and (4.3±0.6)×107 M−1s−1, respectively. The mechanism of radical formation is discussed.
