Abstract
A solution of the problem of raising the corrosion resistance of machine parts to the level of modern industrial requirements with the use of gas nitriding is suggested. The results of a study of the phase composition of a surface nitrided layer of steel make it possible to explain the nature of the growth of its corrosion resistance.
