Abstract

In Parts I and II of this paper a method for indexing and addressing magnetic instrumentation tape was described. This communication describes two additional units, one which enables up to twelve positions to be selected automatically from the tape, and another which acts as a repeater to be used at recording stations remote from the tape recorder. By means of digital switches, coincidence circuits may be set up so that at the selected tape position either an electronic pulse or a relay contact closure is obtained-ten four-decimal-digit circuits are provided, and two seven-decimal-digit circuits. The repeater unit gives the same decimal numerical indicating tube display as the main decoding unit, and in addition, has two four digit tape position selectors.

Deux communications précédentes ont décrit une méthode de référence pour bande magnétique. Celle-ci décrit deux appareil supplémentaires; l’un d’eux permet la sélection automatique de douze positions sur la bande, l’autre, faisant fonction d’un répéteur, reproduit dans des centres d’enregistrement éloignés de l’enregistreur à bande magnétique les présentations de ce dernier. Des circuits à coincidence peuvent être mis en place au moyen de commutateurs digitaux, le circuit pouvant être fermé au moyen d’une pulsion électronique ou d’un contact à relais. Le système comporte dix circuits décimaux et deux circuits à sept chiffres. Le répéteur reproduit la présentation numérique décimale du décodeur principal et, en plus, possède deux sélecteurs de position de la bande, à quatre chiffres.

Zusammenfassung

In vorausgehenden Mitteilungen wurde eine Indexierungs-bzw. Kennzeichnungsmethode für Magnetband beschrieben. Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt zwei Zusatzeinheiten: ein Gerät, welches die automatische Wahl von bis zu zwölf Punkten auf dem Band erlaubt, und ein zweites, welches als Wiederholer für Aufnahmestationen, die entfernt vom Magnetophongerät sind, arbeitet. Mit Digitalschaltern können Koinzidenzkreise in der Weise konstruiert werden, daß für eine bestimmte Bandposition entweder ein elektronischer Impuls oder der Schluß eines Relaiskontaktes erhalten wird—zehn Kreise mit vier Dezimalstellen und zwei Keise mit sieben Dezimalstellen stehen zur Verfügung. Das Wiederholgerät gibt die gleiche numerische Dezimalanzeige wie das Hauptdekodiergerät und hat zusätzlich zwei vierstellige Positionswähler.
