Conclusion
The results from numerous experiments indicate that the fatigue phenomenon cannot be connected to static strength. A specimen or a construction has a fatigue life limit. If the construction has endured some fatigue loading. The ability to take repeated loads is reduced regardless whether the static strength is increased or decreased.
Our ability to predict the fatigue life of a structure is better than previously. Further improvement will probably be achieved by a more profound study of the progress of the changes during the fatigue loading so that the effect of variable repeated loads can be put together more accurately than at present.
