Abstract

The paper reports the work performed by the joint CIB and RILEM committee W80/100-TSL on the Prediction of Service Life. The work is a continuation of earlier joint activity (CIB W80/RILEM 71-PSL), with concentration on generic methodologies for feedback from practice of durability data by, particularly, inspection of buildings. Different concepts to establish data on the in-service performance of building materials and components are presented. An approach to the design of field inspection surveys of buildings, when the purpose is to establish durability data, is reviewed and discussed. How to consider the role of the exposure environment when performing feedback investigations is briefly commented upon.
