Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

A physicochemical mechanism of modification of hypoeutectic and hypereutectic Al−Si alloys based on the concept of the structure of the outermost unfilled electron shells of the atoms is suggested. Experimental results that substantiate this mechanism are presented.

  2. 2.

Further study of the suggested mechanism will show new possibilities for improving the modifying technology of these alloys.
