Properties of integral-disk generator rotors made of steel 36KhN3MFA

Abstract

Results of a study of the properties of the metal of three model rotors manufactured from vacuum-degassed open-hearth steel 36KhN3MFA melted by different methods are presented. It is recommended that standard generator rotors be manufactured from a mixture of acid and basic melted steel. Two rotor preforms for a 1200-MW generator were manufactured and studied. The forging and heat-treatment techniques for the rotor preforms are described. The properties of the metal of these preforms are shown to correspond to the requirements of the specifications.
