Abstract
A meeting of the Technical-Economic Council of the Department of Economics of the Metallurgical Industry was held at the end of March 2000. The meeting, chaired by department head A. Z. Shevtsov, examined two issues: modern electrometallurgy and the Russian-made 100-ton electric-arc furnace, which represents a new generation of furnaces; the creation of the noncommercial partnership “Union of Electrometallurgists.”
