Summary
A report on electroretinographic and electrooculographic findings on 9 cases of serious and 13 cases of light blunt trauma of the posterior part of the eye. On early investigation in a high percentage of cases a decrease of the b-wave of the electroretinogram was found. The a-wave is only affected in cases with serious contusion. Especially clear, however, is the detrimental effect on the electrooculogram where, e.g., the increase of the potential on light adaptation is decreased.
Both electro-physiological findings are, to varying degrees, reversible depending on the degree of the trauma.
