Potency disturbances following abrodil myelography

Summary

152 male patients under 60 years of age who were submitted to Abrodil myelography between 1966 and 1968 were interviewed in 1970 and questioned concerning the development of disturbances of sexual potency after the myelogram. In only 6 did the circumstances merit discussion of a possible causal link between the sexual disability and the myelogram. Of these again, there was only 1 in whom such a causal relationship was a real possibility, but it was by no means proved. The results of this study therefore indicate that there is no demonstrable risk of impotence from Abrodil myelography.

Résumé

Les auteurs ont interrogé 152 malades du sexe masculin, de moins de 60 ans, et qui avaient subi une myélographie entre 1966 et 1968, en vue de rechercher l'installation de troubles de la puissance sexuelle après la myélographie. Dans six cas seulement on pouvait discuter une éventuelle relation entre l'impuissance et la myélographie. Parmi ceux-ci, il n'y avait qu'un seul cas où la relation était probable, mais nullement prouvée. Les résultats de cette étude indiquent done que le risque d'impuissance par myélographie à l'Abrodil ne peut pas être démontré.

Zusammenfassung

152 Kranke unter 60 Jahren wurden zur Frage einer Potenzstörung nach einer Abrodil-Myelographic befragt. Die ausführlichen Untersuchungen zeigten, daß eine echte Potenzstörung durch die Myelographie nicht hervorgerufen werden kann.
