Momentum distributions in fluids determined by neutron compton scattering

An introduction is given to the measurement of atomic momentum distribution by scattering of high-energy neutrons. Examples of measurements on liquid hydrogen, solid lithium, quantum fluids Ne and3He-4He mixtures are given. Future prospects for this new technique are discussed.
