Summary
Of eight benign mediastinal tumors which were operated on during the past 20 years, four were ganglioneuromas, 3 cysts and one a thymoma. Of these only three caused typical complaints. After removal of the tumors which was always carried out by the transpleural route, a bilateral Horner's syndrome appeared postoperatively in one of the cases. The further clinical course in all eight cases was normal and no complications were seen during routine check ups.
