Summary

Fresh, not retracted clots of human blood can be dissolved by streptokinase also if they are in an environment free of Plasminogen.

With the retraction, the clots are pauperized of plasminogen and can be dissolved by streptokinase only after having been supplied with plasminogen from the outside.

Older clots (more than 2 days) are dissolvable by streptokinase without plasminogen. Indications were found that within these clots fibrinolytic enzymes do appear which can be activated by streptokinase.
