Summary
With the gastrocamera it is possible to recognize gastric carcinomas which clinically and radiologically can only be demonstrated with difficulty. Furthermore, it is possible to diagnose “early gastric cancers” which are difficult to recognize, even during surgery: In 13 of 53 patients with gastric carcinoma only examination with the gastrocamera resulted in correct diagnosis. In these cases the gastric carcinoma was found most frequently in an upper position. The “early gastric cancer” in which excellent surgical results could be obtained, is presented in detail.
