Abstract
The effect of S100β protein on the processes of wound repair in the rabbit cornea is studied. Subconjunctival injection of the protein is found to promote favorable and rapid healing of the corneal injury, evidence of which is early epithelization, a drop of the index of migrating inflammatory cells, and prevention of the development of fibrous subepithelial tissue.
