A window amplitude discriminator which reproduces the waveforms of accepted action potentials

Abstract

We have developed a window discriminator that reproduces the waveforms of all action potentials that fall within the voltage limits of an adjustable ‘window’. Our design allows inspection of the waveforms of all selected action potentials, a feature not included in any previously published discriminator designs. Inspection of the reproduced waveforms enables one to ascertain whether the selected action potentials arise from single or multiple units. Our design was made possible by the recently developed bucket-brigade delay devices.
