Abstract

A new type of microwave applicator is proposed for vessel kinetic measurements and monitoring purposes. It is obtained from a standard coaxial-waveguide adaptor connected to a tapered matching junction which is progressively loaded by a dielectric slab with electromagnetic properties approximately equal to those of the surface tissues of human body. Design criteria are given and experimental results are reported.
