Abstract

The detection and quantitative scoring (required for clinical care) of apnea characteristics in infants designated ‘near miss’ for sudden infant death syndrome, requires extensive visual analysis of polygraphic recordings. In this paper, we describe a polynomial filter-based computer method for the automatic detection and processing of respiratory pauses, expirations and inspirations from long-duration analogue recordings.
