Measurement of water loss in exercising animals using an electronic humidity detector

Abstract

A method is described for measuring respiratory water loss in exercising animals by monitoring the temperature and humidity of expired gases drawn from a mask. The technical performance of the apparatus is evaluated and illustrated by comparing ventilation and respiratory evaporation in running birds.
