Normal and superconducting properties of metallic grains (AI) embedded in a semiconductor (Ge): Experimental evidence for an additional attractive mechanism between electrons

Abstract

A resistivity study on AlGe films, co-evaporated at low temperatures, is presented, together with a structural study. We develop a model for the calculation of granular film resistivity.

The study of superconducting properties reveals the existence of an additional attraction mechanism between electrons. An interpretation is given for this mechanism: there exists an attractive interaction between electrons, related through a polarization wave in the dielectric.
