Abstract
It is proved that the eigenvalue spectrum of the linearized collision operator of Peierls' phonon-Boltzmann equation has no gap. As a consequence the usual derivation of hydrodynamic equations from a Boltzmann equation is not valid in the case of a phonon system.
Zusammenfassung
Es wird bewiesen, daß das Eigenwertspektrum des linearisierten Stoßoperators der Peierlschen Boltzmann-Gleichung für Phononen keine Lücke hat. Deshalb ist die übliche Ableitung hydrodynamischer Gleichungen aus einer Boltzmann-Gleichung nicht auf ein Phononensystem anwendbar.
Résumé
On montre qu'il n'y a pas un «gap» dans le spectre des valeurs propres de l'opérateur de collision linéarisé de l'équation de Boltzmann-Peierls. Par conséquence la dérivation usuelle des équations hydrodynamiques de l'équation de Boltzmann n'est pas valable en cas d'un système de phonons.
