Hydrotechnical Construction Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Preliminary test results for concretes with ash additives and complex surface-active additives demonstrate their high technicoeconomic effectiveness; this makes it possible to use these concretes during the construction of the basic and auxiliary structures of the Dnestr hydrofacility, including the external zones of the structures, and after additional study, even in zones where the water level fluctuates.

  2. 2.

Use of the fly ash produced by the Ladyzhinsk State area power plant makes it possible to reduce the cement factor for construction of just the basis structures of the hydrofacility by approximately 30,000 tons and to realize a substantial savings.

  3. 3.

Owing to its high quality, the dry electrically filtered ash produced by the Ladyzhinsk plant can be recommended for widespread use even in other structures as an additive to cements, mortars, and concretes.

  4. 4.

For successful realization of the hypotheses that we have advanced, it is necessary to take measures to accelerate construction of production equipment for the separation of dry ash as the Ladyzhinsk power plant and to begin its operation on schedule. The possibility of placing the equipment in operation in stage due to the use of a simplified scheme for operation of the ash fines should also be considered.
