Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The unification of the concrete classes and determination of the economical compositions of concrete by using moderate-heat cement from a single factory and the optimal relation between the aggregates and the special admixtures ensures uniformity of the placed concrete and high strength and density without overconsumption of cement.

  2. 2.

    Enrichment of the fine Dnieper sand with granite siftings mades it possible to save up to 20% of cement.

  3. 3.

    Experience with construction of the Dneprogés-II hydroelectric plant has shown that cast concrete with a water-retaining admixture can be advantageously used for concreting tunnel linings in addition to the integrating zones and spaces behind pipes. This makes it possible to reduce labor consumption and to increase labor productivity.

  4. 4.

    For successful introduction of new progressive achievements in concrete technology into the hydropower construction field, a modern concrete plant should be designed and constructed, taking into account the use of various types of admixtures and aggregates through automatic delivery and batching, and by applying mechanized means for placing the concrete.
