Abstract

A new phase was observed in the MgNiSn system by metallographic examination, X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Quantitative analysis with electron probe micro-analysis showed that its composition was Mg75Ni15Sn10. The solubility of Sn in Mg2Ni was also determined.
