Abstract

We compare Mössbauer absorption and emission line shapes in the presence of electronic transitions. We show that under certain conditions, which are actually fulfilled in most cases, the emission line shape can be obtained from the absorption line shape in a straightforward manner. We emphasize that „interference terms” are present in both types of line shapes.
