The working group for data-processing of the international society for plant geography and ecology in 1972–1973

Summary

A report is given on the activities of the Group in 1972–1973, with emphasis on the Symposium on Data-Processing in Phytosociology at Prague, September 1973. The scientific program and the main results of this symposium are summarized. An extensive bibliography of publications on the subject by members of the Group is presented.

Es wird berichtet über die Aktivitäten der Arbeitsgruppe für Datenverarbeitung der Internationalen Vereinigung für Vegetationskunde, besonders das Symposium über Datenverarbeitung in der Pflanzensoziologie, das vom 17.–21. September in Praag stattfand. Die anwesende Mitglieder der Gruppe und einige Tschechoslowakische Teilnehmer werden genannt.

Die fünf Sitzungen des Symposium werden kurz beschrieben: 1. Allgemeine Aspekte der Datenverarbeitung; 2. Numerische Vegetationssystematik und Syntaxonomie; 3. Allgemeine Beiträge zur Klassifikation und Ordination in der Pflanzensoziologie; 4. Beiträge zur Klassifikation und Ordination von Salzpflanzengesellschaften; 5. Diskussion über die Perspektive der Vegetationssystematik und der Arbeitsgruppe.

Acht Ergebnisse des Symposium werden beschrieben. Unter den verschiedenen multivariaten Methoden werden agglomerative Klassifikation und Hauptkomponentenanalyse bevorzügt. Jetzt sind etwa 5500 Aufnahmen von Salzwiesen auf Lochkarten eingetragen. Es wird angefangen mit einer Bearbeitung von Elyno-Seslerietea und wenn möglich, auch von Carpinion-Gesellschaften (die letztere in Verbindung mit der Fagion-Gruppe, Sekr. Dr. F. Klötzli). Es wird dringend empfohlen eine kombinierte multivariate Analyse von floristisch-soziologischen und Standorts-Daten durchzuführen. Ein derartiger Projekt über Dünentrockenrasen (Luzulo-Koelerion) hat gerade in Nijmegen angefangen. Eine erste Vergleichung zwischen einer numerischen und einer klassischen Syntaxonomie, und zwar der Spartinetea, ist günstig ausgefallen.

Das Trieste-System für die Aufnahmekodierung hat sich als durchaus befriedigend erwiesen. Ein numerischer Kode für über 1000 Arten liegt jetzt vor.

Die Ergebnisse dieses Symposium und anderer Versuche der Gruppe werden in einem Buch ‘Data-processing in Phytosociology’ veröffentlicht.

In 1975 wird ein neues Symposium veranstaltet. Dort werden die verschiedene Klassifikation- und Ordinationssysteme der Salzwiesen, wie sie bis jetzt erzielt wurden, eingehend besprochen und die weitere Entwicklung der theoretischen Pflanzensoziologie zur Diskussion gestellt.

Eine ausführliche Bibliographie von auf das Thema bezogenen Arbeiten von Mitglieder der Gruppe beschliesst den Bericht.
