Quantitative determination of acid mucopolysaccharides in urine

Summary

Report of a quantitative determination of glycosamino-glycanes (acid mucopolysaccharides) in the urine. The metachromasia of Toluidinblue caused by these substances and a precipitation reaction are used here. Therefore, this method is a value contribution to the diagnosis of mucopolysaccharidosis.

Zusammenfassung

Eine quantitative Bestimmung von Glycosaminoglycanen (sauren Mucopolysacchariden) im Urin wird mitgeteilt. Sie nützt die durch diese Substanzen bedingte Metachromasie von Toluidinblau und eine Fällungsreaktion. Somit leistet diese Methode einen Beitrag zur Diagnosenstellung der Mucopolysaccharidosen.
