Peripheral beltlike atrophy of the retina in retinal detachment

Summary

In a case with retinal detachment a beltlike area of peripheral retina may be atrophic. The biomicroscopic examination with blue light after intravenous injection of fluorescein shows changes of the small arteries and the capillaries at the site of the atrophic retina. Perhaps there is a connection of the peripheral beltlike atrophy of retina with the giant tear of the retina along the ora serrata.

Zusammenfassung

Bei Ablatio retinae kann ein gürtelförmiges Areal der peripheren Netzhaut atrophisch sein. Die Fluoresceinbiomikroskopie ergibt dabei Veränderungen der kleinen Arterien und des Capillarbettes im Bereich der atrophischen Retina. Die periphere gürtelförmige Netzhautatrophie hat vielleicht Beziehungen zum Riesenriß der Retina entlang der Ora serrata.
