Summary

Fifteen cases of canine cutaneous leishmaniasis were diagnosed. Treatment regimes included injections of pentasodium antimony, methylglucamine and cycloguanil pamoate. The results were only partially successful. Antimony toxicity, abscessation, and temporary improvement in skin lesions were observed. Euthanasia was often necessary. It is concluded that attempts to treat cutaneous leishmaniasis in dogs are rarely successful.
