Conclusions

  1. 1.

When repairing a frozen dam the freezing-through of the newly filled earth must be considered the main measure.

It is necessary to place low-permeability earth with thorough compaction in the crevasse.

  3. 3.

The site of the crevasse must be equipped with additional temperature and piezometric holes for obtaining data on the soil condition.
