Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A gradual increase in the severity of the starting and stopping regimes enables damage of the step bearings after modifications and repairs, to be avoided.

  2. 2.

    Monitoring of segment temperatures with thermocouples will disclose the presence of half-dry and dry friction in the transition phases.
