Conclusions

  1. 1.

It is not rational to use for the gaps soil-tight packing made of rigid elements (sheet piles or pipes) diven between the shells of the bulkheads.

  2. 2.

When the width of the gaps between the shells is less than 5 cm, it is recommended to use rubble packing placed in a well previously widened until the shell surfaces are exposed. The well should be extended down to 3 m below the expected depth of scour of the channel at the well.

  3. 3.

When the width of the gaps exceeds 5 cm, it is also recommended to use rubble packing. However, before placing the material in the well, it is necessary to install a wooden member in close contact with the shell surface. The cross-sectional dimensions of the wooden member should exceed by at least 5 cm the width of the gap between the shells.
