Conclusions

The proposed analytical method of calculating the piping properties of cohesionless soils and the method of calculating the critical rates of seepage and pressure gradients are simple, sufficiently accurate for practice, and give the necessary safety margins in the calculations.

A further refinement of the piping calculations lies in the direction of interpreting Eqs. (17) and (18).
