Conclusions
-
1.
A comprehensive analysis of the results of control of the state of the concrete structures at the V. I. Lenin Plyavinsk hydroelectric plant indicates that they are in satisfactory condition.
-
2.
The seepage conditions of the structures should not cause any alarm concerning their stability. In most of the structures the characteristics of the seepage regine did not reach the design values.
-
3.
The downstream drainage system did not fulfill completely the function for which it had been designed. The pressure in this system amounted to only 20% of the design pressure.
-
4.
The settlements and displacements of the powerhouse have not yet been stabilized. Settlements of the right block are 50% lower than the design values, while those of the left block are 8.5% higher.
-
5.
In most of the elements the stresses in the reinforcement did not reach design values.
-
6.
At unique hydraulic structures, full-scale observations should be conducted from the beginning of construction: during the initial period they should be carried out jointly by personnel from the design and operating organizations, and approximately 1.5 years before inundation of the structures or placing the first units into operation, all observations on the structures should be transferred to the operating personnel. During construction, serious attention should be given to the adequate and high-quality installation of the control-measuring devices.
