Hydrotechnical Construction Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

It is highly convenient to excavate soils by excavators of 2–3-m3 bucket capacity and to remove those soils from the foundation pits in large dump trucks; the use of bulldozers and other equipment for these operations results in longer work periods and in slightly higher costs.

  2. 2.

Compaction of soils in natural beds and backfills by C-629 hydrovibrators is 2–3 times more effective than surface vibration rolling or other methods. In this compaction method, large volumes of soil are placed in the entire excavated zone. As a result of the wide use of dynamic penetration testing, the geotechnical control process is simplified.
