Zusammenfassung
Die durchN. melolonthae verursachten Gewebeverletzungen betreffen hauptsächlich das Fettgewebe, obwohl diese Microsporidie sich auch im Hypodermis, in den Pericardial- und Darmzellen sowie im Gehirn entwickelt. Es wird nur das Zytoplasma parasitiert, so dass die Verletzungen durch Anhäufungen von Protozoensporen und Kerne von zerstörten Zellen erkennbar sind.
Nach kurzer Erwähnung der Hauptstadien im Entwicklungszyklus vonN. melolonthae werden die Vorgänge der Sporenkeimung untersucht. Durch im Labor ausgeführte Infizierungsversuche mit Maikäferlarven (M. melolontha L.) wurde der vorherrschende Einfluss der Sporenmenge und in geringer Weise des Larvenstadiums auf die Entwicklung der Krankheit aufgezeigt. Zu hohe Sporenmengen rufen toxemische Vorgänge durch intracoelomische Einspritzung hervor sowie eine durch Proliferation von eingenommener Bakterien verursachte Sterblichkeit.
