Zusammenfassung
Die in Freilandpopulationen der aus Indien nach Nordamerika eingeführten Blattlaus-SchlupfwespeAphidius smithi Sharma & Subba Rao beobachtete Variationsbreite in Färbung and Pigmentmuster des Abdomens lässt sich unter konstanter Temperatur und Luftfeuchtigkeit im Insektarium auf zwei Phänotypen reduzieren. Der beobachtete Polymorphismus wird durch ein Allelpaar kontrolliert, das geschlechtsunabhängig ist. Das für denOrange genannten Phänotyp verantwortliche Allel O zeigt Dominanz über das Wildtyp-Allel (o+). Kreuzungen zwischen homozygoten Eltern und Testkreuzungen ergaben eine Aufspaltung im Verhältnis von 1∶1 in der F1 Generation.
Ein Zusammenhang zwischen dem beobachten Polymorphismus im O-Locus und adaptiven Vorgängen bei der Kolonisierung des östlichen Nordamerikas ist zu vermuten, aber bislang unbewiesen.
