Abstract

Aphytis benasyi spec. nov., obtenue deLepidosaphes beckii Newman dans plusieurs îles de la Mélanésie est décrite. Elle appartient au groupevittatus récemment créé pour rassembler les espèces les plus primitives du genre. Sa mise en évidence et les données de sa répartition géographique viennent en confirmation de l'hypothèse d'une origine mélanésienne du genreAphytis. Une clef d'identification des espèces de la région Ouest Pacifique est donnée.

Summary

TheAphytis species herein described falls into thevittatus group. It was found attackingLepidosaphes beckii Newman onCitrus spp. in several islands of the South Pacific region. WithA. cochereaui recently described from New Caledonia, it is the 2nd purple scale parasite of thevittatus group recoreded from the melanesian arc. A key to the species of the West Pacfic region is given.
