Chemical transfer of learned behaviour: No specific effect observed in rats trained to swim either of two mazes

Summary

There has been a recent report claiming the successful transfer of detailed spatial information about a maze by injecting brain extracts of trained mice into naive recipients. We have repeated this experiment with rats using a swimming maze as a precaution against odour cues. No evidence for information transfer has been obtained under these conditions.
