Abstract

The effect of different coatings on the sensitivity of an optical fibre to heat and mechanical effects was investigated. The thickness of the coatings at which the sensitivity of the fibres to external effects is not a function of random variations in its diameter was determined. The values of the coefficients of the sensitivity of the fibre to external effects for a determined coating thickness were found.
