Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering Aims and scope

Abstract

A procedure is proposed for determining the effect of the displacement of a retaining wall on the stress-strain state of the mass swelling soil adjacent to it and the lateral pressure acting on it using the finite-element method. The results of calculations performed in accordance with the method in question and data derived from a field experiment are compared.
