Summary
The separation of aromatic esters has been studied on acceptor bonded phases. It is likely that donor-acceptor complex (DAC) formation occurs between the acceptor phase and the electrons of the carbonyl groups. The influence of substituents attached to the aromatic rings and the role of the alkyl chains of phthalates on retention are discussed.
