Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
-
1.
In lightly anaesthetized dogs immobilized with succinyl choline, the systemic circulation was investigated during selective spinal cord cooling and during peripheral and general body cooling (TR≧30 °C) under conditions of intact proprioceptive circulatory control and after bilateral denervation of the carotid sinus and vagotomy.
-
2.
After interruption of proprioceptive control, selective spinal cord cooling induced a considerable rise of arterial blood pressure, mainly due to increased peripheral resistance. In the intact state, there was, in average, no significant change of blood pressure but a decrease of heart rate.
-
3.
A slight initial fall of blood pressure frequently occurred in both experimental groups. In the intact state, it was accompanied by an increased heart rate. After interruption of proprioceptive circulatory control, heart rate concomitantly fell.
-
4.
After interruption of proprioceptive control, general body cooling led to a rise of blood pressure. This rise could be canceled, for the most part, by selective spinal cord heating. In the intact state, no such significant pressor responses occurred. Peripheral cold stimuli had only slight and inconsistent pressure rising effects in both experimental groups.
-
5.
It is concluded that spinal cord hypothermia activates, directly or indirectly, the spinal vasomotor efferents. The underlying central nervous mechanism is subordinate to the proprioceptive circulatory control system.
