Summary
Attempts have been made to develop an efficient TLC method for the preparative separation of carbazole alkaloids since the existing TLC methods were unsuitable for preparative work. Excellent separation of these alkaloids was achieved on alumina plates with petroleum-ether (40–60°)-glacial acetic acid (8∶2) solvent mixture by using the technique of two-dimensional TLC.
