Conclusion

The proposal presented here is worth implementing on an experimental basis. It preserves the training program's ability to teach what it believes is professional and scientific while increasing the overall emphasis on education. While it was not designed to accommodate to changes brought on by managed care, it does offer the kind of flexibility and cost-savings that are essential to the survival of psychiatric education.
