Mise en oeuvre de poudres fines en chromatographie en phase gazeuse

Coating small particle size materials in gas chromatography

Summary

Practical gas chromatographic determination of physical properties of adsorbents is generally hindered by the very small and heterogeneous particles of most industrial materials, which result in a large pressure drop across the column. We describe a technique in which a silanized Chromosorb is “coated” by the fine particles by means of a solvent. It is particularly convenient when the adsorbent also has to be covered with a liquid stationary phase, for we show that silanized Chromosorb is not coated by any film and that its contribution to solute retention volume is small and may be calculated easily.
