Summary
New data concerning the uplift in northern North America and in Fennoscandia are combined with earlier findings. The main quantities involved in the hypothesis of postglacial uplift are of the same order of magnitude for Fennoscandia and for the Great Lakes-Hudson Bay regions. Whereas the hypothesis of postglacial uplift is readily accepted for Fennoscandia, it has been rejected in several publications for the present uplift in North America, partly as a consequence of misinterpretation of data. Actually, it offers the best explanation by far for the uplift in both areas.
