Summary
A theoretical model is used to predict retention times of divalent metal cations in single-column ion chromatography using one or more ligands in the eluent. Stability constants for complexes of divalent metal cations with citric and tartaric acid were measured by ion chromatography. A basis for optimization of single-column ion chromatography employing the KATIEKS-S column and ethylenediammonium citrate and tartrate eluents has been established.
