Summary
The coating with polysiloxane- and polyethertype liquid phases of dilute aqueous HF-potassium hydroxide pre-treated glass capillaries by the static procedure yields columns whose efficiency and thermal stability is higher than that of untreated columns. The treatment with aqueous HF only results in lowering of thermal properties of the liquid phases.
Excessive development of the inner surface as produced by hot alkali leads to deterioration of the column performance especially for polar and high molecular weight compounds.
